Kinewright

A video editor you talk to.

Type "cut the first three seconds and tighten the pauses" and the AI coding tool you already use makes the edits on your timeline, with the same operations you would use by hand. Ctrl+Z undoes it. It edits footage you shot; it never generates any.

Kinewright runs a small tool server inside the app and points your agent at it, so there are no API keys, accounts or servers. Local Whisper transcription lets the agent cut by what was said, and a scored test suite measures how well agents actually edit.

What is in it

  • Multi-track timeline with sample-accurate audio and video sync
  • A mixer with loudness metering, GPU compositing, colour grading with scopes and LUTs, keyframed motion, H.264 export
  • Works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and other agent CLIs
  • Built in Rust for Windows and Linux; GPL-3.0, no paid tier, no telemetry
  • Early development, no release yet; built with Claude agents directing Claude agents
